Parish Book Club Update:  Our next book is "All Good People Here" by Ashley Flowers. A Message from Bishop Persico
Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ:
On the weekend of November 16-17, a second collection will be taken up in our parishes for the national Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD).
Your support for this collection brings change to communities across the country and empowers those living in poverty to transform their communities into reflections of the  Kingdom of God. One of the principles that has made CCHD successful at reaching people on the margins for more than 50 years is its support for community-based solutions rather than uniform, top-down programs that do not account for local needs or include local voices.
All CCHD grants, national and local, are approved by the bishop in the diocese where the funded groups operate. When you give to CCHD, 50% of your contribution stays in the Diocese of Erie to help your own community.
This work is not possible without the support of dedicated Catholics like you. Your contributions are helping to build more merciful and just communities in the Diocese of Erie and throughout the country. Please prayerfully consider helping us to uphold human dignity and alleviate poverty by giving generously to the second collection for the Catholic Campaign for Human Development. If you would like more information about the collection and the people it supports, visit www.usccb.org/cchd.
Thank you for contributing to CCHD’s outreach to those on the margins.
Sincerely yours in Christ,
+Lawrence T. Persico  The Most Reverend Lawrence T. Persico, JCL Bishop of Erie

What is CCHD? The Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD) is the domestic antipoverty program of the U.S. Catholic Church. It was founded in 1969 and established in 1970 to respond to both systemic poverty and racial injustice occurring throughout the country. Since beginning its work in 1970, CCHD has awarded over $462 million in grants supporting more than 12,000 community-based, grassroots-led organizations. The Catholic Campaign for Human Development provides grants to more than 200 low-income, community-led organizations each year, which is made possible thanks to the generous contributions of Catholics to the annual collection every November on the World Day of the Poor.
