Listening Sessions for the USCCB’s Pastoral Letter on the Laity
The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) is requesting input from laity throughout the nation in preparation for a pastoral document on the laity. Parishes are asked to hold listening sessions in September. Schedule will be as follows:
Sunday September 29th at 6:30pm at St Michael's
This an opportunity to let your voice be heard as we as a community meet and discuss our Catholic Faith and Church. Each session will last about an hour after Mass and ALL are invited. We want to hear especially from those whose voice feel are overlooked. Join us.
Please remain in Church to participate in a Listening Session, as we prepare to send to the US Bishops our thoughts and prayers in the coming months. Our input into the process is of value for not only the Catholic Church in the United States, but also for our Diocese and Parish. Your participation is needed, especially those that don't feel they have a voice or that the Catholic Church never listens to the people in the pews. It should be a time of prayer and reflection to share with each other our hopes and concerns about the Catholic Church today.
Parish Evening Prayer (online): Please join us as we return to Evening Prayer in Community via Zoom. We start at 7pm and pray in community for 20 to 25 minutes. If you have questions, or need help getting connected to Zoom, please contact Deacon Owen or Victoria Wagner in the Parish office. No books needed, all is provided on line. Please join us.
Inviting you to a scheduled Zoom meeting on September 23, 24, and 25 at 7pm
Prayer with St. Francis of Assisi: We will be praying and reflecting on St. Francis for 4 days as we prepare for the Transitus of St. Francis of Assisi. Starting on Tuesday September 30 at 6pm and continuing on the October 1, 2, and 3 we will meet and discuss St. Francis of Assisi. Each day we will read a call to Worship and to Love as reflected by the life and prayer of St. Francis. We will meet in the Gathering area and enjoy some fellowship and reflection each evening. Join us.
St. Monica Prayer Group starting on October 14th...
Saint Monica was the mother of Saint Augustine, known for her unwavering patience, persistent prayers, and deep faith that led to the conversion of her pagan husband, Patricius, and her wayward son, Augustine. She is the patron saint of mothers and those facing difficulties in family life, especially children who have strayed from their faith. Join us in the Schleigh Library on the 2nd Tuesday of every month from 7-8pm to pray for the intercession of St. Monica for our loved ones and also for ourselves. All are welcome.
Joshua’s Haven is a men’s shelter that is in Farrell. They offer not only a shower, warm meal, and a bed for men, but they also provide spiritual guidance, a medical clinic, job preparation, and most importantly HOPE. For the past nine years, Beloved Disciple has had a group of parishioners that help prepare part of a meal on the 22nd of each month. We would like to add more people to our team. Your responsibility would be to prepare your part (salad, dessert, vegetable, main protein, rolls) and deliver it to Beloved Disciple. I will deliver the meal to Joshua’s Haven. If this sounds like a ministry you would like to be part of, please contact Victoria Wagner.
